Parental rejection is an especially hurtful, cruel, and destructive type of rejection, especially as a child or adolescent. It’s a demonic spirit that can steal your life, pushing your true identity into your subconscious, affecting your emotions, thoughts, and behavior, planting the seeds for your destruction.

A Spirit of Rejection often attaches itself to a person already suffering from some form of parental abuse as a child, but as an adult it still wreaks havoc. In “Written Off – The Journey Begins,” Book One of her “Approved in Christ Series,” author Lisa Phillips tells her story of how a Spirit of Rejection invaded the lives of three generations of her family – including Lisa, and the trail of destruction it left. Weaved between her story are chapters that teach and exposes the nature of this malicious spirit, and how, after many years, she broke free.

It tells us that when we seek God, trust in His ways, even when we can’t trace His hand, or see the way out, He is working behind the scenes, using what hurts us for our good. God sees the rejected and if we trust and lean into Him, make Him our refuge, and wait on His timing, the shadow of His wings will cover, protect and guide us out of the darkness and the confusion.

Weaved between stories are chapters of spiritual truth that the Lord showed Lisa, that would compound over time, leading her to her next step: discovering a biblical promise whispered in her grandmother’s spirit, that ultimately led Lisa to freedom.
